Rachael's Art 289 Home Page

Web Production : Winter 2020

My name is Rachael Plant and I'm a second year multimedia-but-switching-to-graphic-design student at LCC. I take mainly art classes and this is one of the few classes that doesn't utilize a lot of group work. I love working with others especially in an inventive sense. Through my friends & students I’ve worked alongside at Lane I have found great inspiration and direction for projects and pieces. Sometimes looking at art of others is like viewing the world through their eyes and it’s always refreshing to see a completely different stylistic perspective. Feedback on your own work is another very beneficial element of collaboration and helps you step back as an artist and view things potentially from a different angle.

At the same time, group projects for big assignments like finals or midterms are a personal nightmare. I hate not being in control of my fate like that, and unless the group dynamic is perfect I'm doubling my stressload by worrying about everyone else executing their responsibilities along with my own.

Projects

Project 1 : Semantic HTML
For this first assignment we had to mark up our resume's with basic HTML and structure them appropriately, and then used CSS to make it presentable. I opted to use the media-specific resume I crafted earlier this year for another class, because my "real job" resume makes me sad ☹ Hopefully one day I'll escape the food service industry!
Project 2 : Basic Layout
We were given specs and reference images in order to build a site from scratch that mirrored the one assigned. The page's contents regarded a space mission, in which a space craft named New Horizons was launched in order to collect data. It was important to properly structure the HTML for this assignment because the CSS only built on it from there. With this assignment I struggled the most with proper naming convention and use of pseudo selectors.
Project 3 : Small Website
I will link this project at a point in the future.
